Remote Education

We have a three tiered response to how we set remote education work based on DfE guidance.

Students in all situations will follow their normal timetable and this will be accessible in school or from home via the Student Portal

Tier 1 is where we are open to all students, but still set remote education work as homework and for those students who need to self-isolate.

Tier 2 is where we are partially open to students. Some students will be in school, but some students will receive their education remotely.

Tier 3 is where we are closed to all students, except the students of key workers and vulnerable students. The vast majority of students will receive their education remotely.

We are currently in Tier 2. We will notify parents if the tier changes.

Below you will find further details of our three tiered response.

Tier 1
  • All students will receive weekly homework that must be completed as instructed on the Student Portal
  • All self-isolating students will access work for day one only from the links below.
  • All self-isolating students will be set work daily by their class teachers from day 2.  Work can be accessed by the Student Portal
  • Students without access to IT will be provided with a paper pack of work upon request
  • SEN students will receive additional support from the SEN team as required
Tier 2

For students attending school:

  • All students will receive weekly homework that must be completed as instructed on the Student Portal

For students not-attending school:

  • All self-isolating students will be set work daily by their class teachers.  Work can be accessed by the Student Portal.   This will include access to high-quality delivery e.g. a live lesson, audio provided on the PowerPoint, access to a high-quality video, direction to another resource i.e. from the Oak Academy
  • Teachers will also upload a quiz to the Student Portal to assess the learning of students and to allow them to respond to learning gaps
  • If the remote learning is required for longer than a week, students will complete one extended assignment for every four taught lessons and will be provided with feedback
  • SEN students will receive additional support from the SEN team as required
  • Post-16 students will be expected to log into Microsoft Teams to join in with the live lesson

Tier 3

School closed to all students, except vulnerable children and the children of key workers

  • All students will receive weekly homework that must be completed as instructed on the Student Portal
  • All students will be set work daily by their class teachers in-line with their normal timetable.  Work can be accessed by the Student Portal and will be available no later than 8.30am.   This will include access to high-quality delivery e.g. a live lesson, audio provided on the PowerPoint, access to a high-quality video, direction to another resource i.e. from the Oak Academy
  • Teachers will also upload a quiz to the Student Portal to assess the learning of students and to allow them to respond to learning gaps.
  • If the remote learning is required for longer than a week, students will complete one extended assignment for every four taught lessons and will be provided with feedback
  • SEN students will receive additional support from the SEN team as required
  • Post-16 students will be expected to log into Microsoft Teams to join in with the live lesson
