Letter to parents/carers (22/07/2022)

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you for all of your support over the course of this academic year.  Despite the challenges that we have faced at times as a result of the ongoing pandemic and the return to “normal”, we have had a really successful year and we are very proud of our students.  Year 11 and 13 have faced external exams for the first time for a while and we look forward to their results days in August, with Year 13 results available from 9am on 18th August and Year 11 results available from 9am (please check here for full details on schedule for the day) on 25th August.

This year has also seen the return of our full enrichment programme, with huge successes in sports, including Havelock being victorious in the trust January Cup!  Whilst we had to postpone our Sports Awards Evening this week due to the heatwave, we look forward to celebrating our sporting successes early on in the new academic year.  Our arts team have gone from strength to strength, with many successful performances, culminating in a fabulous run of “Matilda Jr” the Musical last week.  Well done to everyone involved and thank you to all of our community who came to support the performances.

Over 300 children have benefitted from the National Tutoring Programme at Havelock this year and we hope to continue this provision in the new school year, following positive feedback from students across different year groups who have been involved.

As we look towards the start of next term, our team is busy making plans for a strong induction for all students in September, so start times will be staggered for the first two days as follows:

  • - Year 7 – Monday 5th September 2022 at 8.20am
  • - Year 12 & 13 – Monday 5th September 2022 at 8.30am
  • - Year 11 – Monday 5th September 2022 at 11am
  • - Years 8, 9, 10 – Tuesday 6th September at 8.20am (and all other year groups at 8.20am).

Our uniform and equipment expectations can all be found on our website and we will have some restricted opening hours during the holidays where PE kit and bags can be purchased. Reception will also be open on Friday 2nd September between 8.30am and 3pm for any last minute purchases.

Students involved in our Summer Activity Programme will be welcomed at the academy by our staff on the dates published.  We look forward to seeing students for this summer programme.  If your son/daughter has not yet signed up but is interested in doing so then please email rlaurie@havelockacademy.co.uk as soon as possible as we have a small number of places left and a waiting list for one of the weeks.

Our Student and Parent Guide for 2022-23, including all key information is available here so please do check this if you have any questions, or email us on enquiries@havelockacademy.co.uk and someone will aim to get back to you within 3 working days.  Please be aware, whilst the academy is closed for the summer, most of our staff are taking a well earned break, so will not be able to respond to things until September, but we have some of the team picking up urgent enquiries on the above email address.

All that remains to be said is a sincere thanks for all of your support this year and we wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable summer.

Warmest wishes,

Emma Marshall & all at #TeamHavelock
