Letter to Parents (17/03/2020)

17th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

COVID 19 Update following most recent Government Guidance

In order to maintain sufficient staffing levels, following the government advice on self isolation, Havelock Academy will be closed for Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 students for the rest of this week, from Wednesday.  This decision has been made to allow staff to self-isolate for the new recommended time period of 14 days and to ensure that we are able to safely open the school to students in key examination groups.

The academy will remain open for Year 7, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 students.  Where parents/carers of children in those year groups who are not in school, but work in the healthcare or similar sectors, are struggling for childcare, please get in touch with us at the academy.  Work will be set on Show My Homework for all students and students have been shown how to access this from home.

We will update regularly via our website and through the MCAS app. If any parents would like help with the app, then please contact reception on 01472 602000. Thank you for your support with this. The safety and wellbeing of our children and staff is our number one priority at this time.

We will continue to follow the guidelines from Public Health England and further support and advice can be sought by visiting their website at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public

Free School Meals Years 8, 9, 10: 18-20th March 2020
During the partial closure, where the academy is closed to certain year groups, the parents/carers of students entitled to Free School Meals can collect a meal pack from reception on Wednesday, between 12 noon and 1pm, providing a selection of food for the rest of the week.  If parents/carers wish to collect outside these times, then they should contact the academy to make arrangements.

Kind regards,

Emma Marshall

Principal
