Welcome to Vanguard House.
It is three years since the Houses came into existence and I think that Vanguard has established itself as a strong and courageous house with all our staff and students being extremely loyal to the lilac lion! Moving into the new school in September 2011 will increase that sense of family and community within the House as we acquire our own dedicated House area and continue to establish ourselves as a House to be reckoned with.
Vanguard - What it means
At least ten ships from the Royal Navy have borne the name HMS Vanguard, meaning forefront of an action or movement which gives us its motto "We Lead" which is a good motto for us to adopt as a House. The latest and most current HMS Vanguard is a ballistic missile submarine launched in 1992. The crest for our House is taken from the Royal Navy and we are looking at developing links with them in the future.
