Year 7 and 8: Build a trench/castle competition
Students at Havelock Academy have been working really hard at making models of castles and trenches.
Year 8 students at the academy are currently studying World War One and have been learning about what it was like to fight in the trenches and the key features of a trench. Students have made the model trenches to show their learning. Year 7 students have been learning about the development of castles in their history lesson so made models to show this. Miss Cane, who organised the competition said ‘the effort students went to was amazing, we were really impressed with all the entries we had and all the hard work students put into their models.’ Deputy Principal, Darren Wood judged the competition and awarded students with prizes of Horrible Histories books and Easter eggs, he said ‘I was impressed with some of the innovative ways students had made their models and the quality of them; it was very difficult to judge’.
