National Sporting Recognition for Havelock Academy

A national newspaper has recognised Havelock Academy’s academic and sporting achievements.

In a story exploring the impact of sport on examination success, The Daily Telegraph noted that at Havelock Academy: “Success off the field has been fuelled by that on it, according to staff and pupils for whom sport has become an essential part of daily life.”

With the support of the David Ross Education Trust, the academy has achieved its best ever Ofsted grading and seen results strengthen over recent years.

David Ross, Sponsor, believes that a contributing factor for the academy’s increasing academic performance is the sporting and enrichment activities that have acted as a motivator for classroom studies.

“We are delighted that the press have acknowledged the achievements of Havelock Academy.

“We hold a strong belief that students will benefit in the classroom as a result of participating in sporting and enrichment activities.

“Young people can learn the values of teamwork and respect by being part of a sporting team. Academic success can be supported by these values and it is clear that by getting young people involved in sport, their exam results can benefit greatly.”
