Hawks Inspired By Wembley Visit!
The first Hawks trip of the year was a trip to Wembley to watch the Euro 2016 football qualifier between England and Estonia!
We took 30 students to the home of English football and for all involved it was their first time watching an England game live at Wembley. Some of the students had been there before to watch Grimsby Town but never to watch an international game involving world class players. The minibus journey down to London was brilliant, with all the students in great voice and didn't stop singing & chanting all the way there.
The students walked up Wembley way and were inspired just by seeing the arch lit up in the red & white of England. We made it in time to stand up and proudly sing the national anthem before the game started. The game was dominated by England and they created a lot of chances. England won with 2 goals from Theo Walcott and Raheem Sterling. The students also saw Wayne Rooney receive his golden boot and celebrate him becoming England's all time goal scorer.
Overall, this was an incredible trip and truley one of the most inspirational trips the academy has ever ran. For the students to see their idols play at Wembley for their country was fantastic and has created memories that all involved will never ever forget!
Huge thank you to the David Ross Education Trust for contributing and help fund this unbelievable opportunity!
