Havelock Academy students celebrate fantastic GCSE results
Students at Havelock Academy have achieved one of the best sets of GCSE results in the academy’s history.
The number of students achieving 5 A*- C (including maths and English) rose by 7 percentage points to 57% on last year’s figures. In addition, there was a similar increase in the number of students achieving a C or above in maths and English and the number achieving the English Baccalaureate.
Wendy Jackson, Principal, said: “At Havelock we demand the very best, setting high expectations with no excuses.
“It is fantastic to be part of an academy that works so hard to see everyone achieve strong grades in order to further their education.
“What is particularly pleasing is that students of all levels have achieved or exceeded their own expectations. We had a group of four students who achieved 33 A*s and As between them, as well as students who have done incredibly well to secure strong C grades.
Wendy Marshall, Chief Executive of the David Ross Education Trust, said: “Havelock is an academy that really inspires young people.
“I have been privileged enough to be able to see Havelock students compete on the sports field, wow on the stage and impress with their artistic endeavours.
“They continually impress me with their behaviour and commitment, and it is wonderful to see their talents and skills are being reflected in consistently impressive exam results.
"I have no doubt that we will continue to see good things from Havelock next year.”
