Head of House: Miss Joanne Woodhouse
"WE WEAR THE CROWN"
Hello, my name is Miss Joanne Woodhouse and I'm Head of Illustrious House.
Following an extremely exciting and successful Prize Giving Ceremony on the last day of the year, I am very pleased to be leading Illustrious into another year at the Academy. We all had a wonderful afternoon. We won Sports Day for the third year running and our Sports Captain, Paige Johnson, proudly collected the Knott Cup for the House. We also came third in the Wilkinson Cup for the top House from all points in all competitions, with an astounding 853 points, only 1 point behind Jaguar and 3 points behind Vanguard!
I have introduced a new leadership structure in the House which will become fully operational in September. This will now include specialist Captains in the areas of Arts and Sports along with a Vice Captain to support the House Captain. Please click here to view the leadership structure of the House. The roles that these Captains will play in supporting the students in Illustrious and embedding our motto is invaluable. I am looking forward to working closely with them.
As we move into the new building I will be consulting with our House Council to help promote an Illustrious feel in our new House base. This will provide valuable space for the House to meet together more often and give students space to study.
I welcome our new staff and students who are joining Illustrious in September. There are far too many to mention! Our new MYP1 tutor group have been into the Academy and spent time with their tutor, Mrs Mills, and we are both excited about seeing them develop. We will also have a new Lower Sixth tutor group which will be led by Mrs Bloomfield. Their role is to help develop leadership within the House and support the younger students.
If you are interested in learning more about Illustrious or joining us for a House assemby or banquet please contact me.
House Motto
Our House motto, "We wear the crown" is often heard chanted during tutorial sessions. It's so nice to hear the students embracing what the House means to them and understanding and taking on board the motto and its meaning.
House Charity
We Wish Upon a Star was voted as the House charity for Illustrious. A number of fundraising activities will take place throughout the Academic year to raise money for our charity and lots of students enjoy taking part and doing their bit.House Song
