The Ross Fortune

Head of House: Mr David Harvey

Our House Motto: Fortune Favours the Brave

I served in the British Army from 1984 to 2008, as an Ammunition Technician, working in the field of Explosive Ordnance Disposal. I am a keen swimmer, having only retired from competitive swimming in 2000; my highest accolade in the sport was British Long Distance Swimming Champion in 1993.

Our House ethos is centred around the following key areas: honesty, respect, resilience and caring for others. Everyone in Fortune is a member of our House family whether they are students, support staff or teaching staff, so using our ethos we can make it happen.

We are all brave throughout our lives in one way or another. Our motto is important to one and all: if we live by our House motto and our ethos then we will all be better people.

We are creating history as we move into the House base in the newly built Academy building.  All House students and staff will be making a new start with exciting times ahead.  The House Captain for 2011/12 is Lauren Webster from the Upper Sixth Form; her deputy and Vice Captain is Holly Partlett from Form 5.  Two new posts have been created this year to make the House leadership team more effective: the Sports Captain post has been awarded to Matthew Holmes from the Upper Sixth Form and the Arts Captain awarded to Casey Spall of the Lower Sixth Form.  Fortune House students have already taken the reigns and had a successful sports day with a great result after commitment from all members of the House.  We hope to have more successes in the forthcoming academic year.
