Head of House: Mrs Tracey Thornton

Hello, my name is Mrs Thornton. I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am married and have three children aged 27, 25 and 20 years. My background is mainly based around children and young people aged 3 to 16 years in an after-school and holiday club which I established in 2002. I organised trips, activities and social events for them. I also worked for the Post-Adoption team. I have been a foster carer and a child minder. My hobbies include swimming, playing literati on the internet and walking my dogs. I am passionate about football and am an avid, lifelong, Liverpool supporter, but I enjoy a good game of football no matter what team is playing.

House Charity

Our House charity is the Big Red Heart Appeal for Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.  The Grimsby and District Health Care Charity (GDHC) was founded in 1997 by Ron Kitching who is still the Chairman.  There is a dedicated team of volunteers who organise events and run the Charity shops on Freeman Street in Grimsby.

The money raised from our House charity will help towards developing the cardiac services at our local hospital.  The GDHC hopes to raise £1.5 million to help develop and provide:

  • a clinical area for development of TILT testing service;
  • a cardiac catheter lab with an appropriate recovery area;
  • a coronary care unit with sufficient step down beds.

Upper Sixth Form

We have eight Upper Sixth Form students in our House: Ben Ogle (House Captain), Charlotte Hough (Vice Captain), Alex Emsley, Ryan Martin, Charlie Petrie-Harrison, Laura Gill, Liam Sewell and Melissa Wilkinson, all of whom are committed to their duties within the Academy and are taking responsibility for supporting younger students within the House through their role in the Reading Rats project with Form 1.

Lower Sixth Form

We have eight Lower Sixth Form students joining us this year and although they have taken on a wide range of courses and have a lot of work over the next two years, they are already demonstrating that they are a credit to Eagle House and the Academy.
